Changes at Five Vines Wine Bar - What is Going On!?!

For many, change is a scary thing. It can represent the inclusion of new found risks and challenges. It can be an avatar to the unknown worming into the dark corners of our consciousness, preying on our fears and insecurities, cropping thouasnds of “what if” questions to plague our thoughts.  To others, change can be something beautiful, exciting, or completely necessary. Something to uplift us, bring fresh and inspirational ideas, make us a more whole and evolved person. No matter how one perceives change it, in the end it ends up being a little bit of both. For the Five Vines Family, we are always feeling the pressures of change as we grow and evolve as a business. Throughout the years we have always seen ourselves as agents of change and growth. San Juan Capistrano, this amazing place that has become so wholly a part of our lives, has been changing since we opened our doors in 2014. We have always strived to adapt to those growths, good or bad, and change as the city does. Now our little part of San Juan Capistrano is going through a very tumultuous change.  And we know that for many of you it brings questions. We are here to hopeful help answer those questions for you and get you excited for those big changes coming to Five Vines.

First off, let us answer the biggest question most people have for us: Yes, we are still open during construction! And, before you ask, YES! It is running a little late and has affected our business negatively. Come and visit us and our lovely staff, because it can get awfully lonely some days and we can’t drink all this wine ourselves! For those of you who have already given us the pleasure of your company, thank you for the support. During this time of growing pains, your involvement means the world to us. So now that we have covered that base, let’s talk about why this change is a good thing and, despite the negative ramifications during construction, we are immensely excited for the final results! Please recall that all of this is susceptible to even more change as we continually adapt to the currents of life. Without further ado, here are our two big  amazing changes coming to Five Vines in the very near future:

Roots Deli at Five Vines

Roots Deli will be our newest addition to Five Vines Wine Bar. Attached to the downstairs wine bar will be a deli space to feed the hungry masses of the San Juan Capistrano lunch crowd. Opening at 11am, we will be serving gourmet sandwiches, salads, and sides all made by the amazing and ingenious Erika Fonseca. You may know here from her previous position at Five Vines as chef a few years ago or current perfect job she does making all of our decadent and delightful desserts. Roots will feature both pre-made and custom order sandwiches, make-your-own picnic baskets, and all of Erika’s fresh baked goods. All of our meats, cheeses, and supplemental ingredients will be, as always, professionally curated for your enjoyment. It will also be featured in our brand new patio and, for the first time ever for Five Vines, be open to all ages. You can, if you so desire, seat yourself in Five Vines as well for any wine or beer to go with your lunch (the Five Vines kitchen will be closed). Roots will close it’s menu at 3pm, but the area will remain as additional seating for Five Vines.

The Perch at Five Vines

Our special events space above Five Vines, formerly known as the Attic, has been remade and rebranded! Now opening is The Perch, our brand new events space and reservation restaurant. Attached to The Perch will be a deck overlooking the entire Depot District of San Juan Capistrano. Adorned with a full kitchen and more seating, The Perch will be used for both special events (which can be booked by our Vine #2, Suzy Fisher) and dinners. The dinners will all reservation only, and will start from 5pm until 10pm. The dinners will be on a monthly rotating menu prepared by the phenomenal Chef Omar Ramirez, and will be small bites and appetizers in style. You can either order al la carte, creating your own family style gnosh dinner or do our 5 course set menu with optional wine and beer pairings. Bookings will be open at The Perch soon!
